A quartet of Greene County High School 2021 graduates are vying for the title of Greene County Fair Queen and the privilege of competing at the Iowa State Fair queen pageant.
Hannah Curtis is the daughter of Kent and Danille Curtis. She plans to attend Simpson College to study English. She has danced competitively for many years, and has been part of 4-H since fourth grade. She has been the cross country and track team manager.
Ashlyn Frederick is the daughter of Dan and Jodi Frederick and has three younger siblings, Ethan, Kayla and Owen. Throughout high school she has been involved in volleyball, football and wresting cheerleading, Student Council, Interact, National Honor Society, FFA and choir. Outside of school she has participated in competitive dance, 4-H Young Leaders, and her church youth group. After high school she plans to attend Iowa State University and study agriculture.
Makala Kafer is the daughter of Tina and Scott Beaman and Robert Kafer. Makala has been involved in many activities, sports, and clubs throughout high school. She plans to attend Iowa State University and major in broadcast journalism and mass communications.
Lauryn Killion is the daughter of Rick and Becky Killion of Jefferson. She was involved in many activities at and away from school including wrestling and football cheerleading, FFA, NHS, Interact, Student Council, competitive dance, 4-H, Young Leaders, and volunteering at the Sierra Community Theatre. She has attended the fair every year since she was young and some of her favorite memories including hanging out in the horse and cattle barns with her friends, showing her horses in costume classes, and participating in the round robin contest.

The 2021 Fair Queen contest will be held Wednesday, July 7, at 7 pm in Clover Hall.
